Injury Rehabilitation

Do you feel limited by an old injury? Have you completed other therapy (example: physiotherapy, chiropractic, massage therapy) and been discharged from their care and told to ‘stay active & continue exercising’, but you do not know how?

Kinesiology services could be the right next step for you!

  • Registered Kinesiologists are trained healthcare providers who can assess and treat injuries and prescribe appropriate exercise to help you gain range of motion, improve mobility, stability, and balance. Kinesiologists can develop treatment plans focusing on foundational movement patterns to improve strength and manual therapy techniques to address any muscular tightness or pain to help get you back to doing the activities you enjoy!

A Kinesiologist has the knowledge and understanding to address your specific needs based on your medical history and the cause of injury to set up a plan that is unique to your needs! Work with a Kinesiologist to bridge the gap between acute treatment and going back to regular exercise or activities of daily living.

Injury Prevention

Kinesiologists can work with you to address balance, coordination, and mobility concerns. Through individualized treatment plans comprised of hands-on manual therapy techniques (Soft Tissue Release Therapy), simple therapeutic exercises, and education, Kinesiologists can help address concerns you may have about developing an injury or doing a task safely.

  • Concerns about balance and stability with everyday activities can be addressed in conjunction with your level of strength and ability to create an individualized plan appropriate to your needs and goals.

Injury prevention can be appropriate for recreational and high performing athletes as a method of staying fit and healthy while performing their activity or in the off season to stay strong and prepare for the next season. Foundational skills are important elements to athletic performance and can be included in a personalized program focused on injury prevention.

Soft Tissue Release

Soft Tissue Release is a hands-on technique that, when coupled with appropriate therapeutic exercise, can help individuals get back to doing the activities they enjoy by addressing pain and existing injuries. Soft Tissue Release is known as “an effective way to treat soft-tissue injuries, enhance performance or prevent injury” (developed by Jim Bilotta, Athletic Therapist, 2015).

  • Soft Tissue Release can involve the stretching of soft tissue under applied pressure through a range of motion in a controlled manner. Through active and passive movements, Soft Tissue Release coupled with therapeutic exercises and modalities, can be used together to develop a unique treatment plan that is individualized to the client.

Work Hardening & Conditioning

If you are looking to improve your level of strength or conditioning for a specific job or task, kinesiology services may be right for you!

Kinesiologists work with you to define your goals and the nature of the task or job demand you may be facing. The task is then broken down into its components and specific exercises & workouts are designed to help condition you for that task.

  • To best help you prepare for a specific task or job demand, Kinesiologists will help you build the capacity to confidently take on the demands of a task or job using a step-by-step approach, starting from whatever your current abilities are.
